KIPP operates a middle school and two small but growing elementary schools — totaling 830 students. It still has 1,200 students more on its waiting list, said Tom Majdanics, executive director of KIPP in Jacksonville.
“The more high quality school choice there is in Jacksonville, the stronger our city is,” he said. “We should be able to keep our parents and families — our tax base — in the county. At the end of the day it’s not a tax base issue, it’s what’s best for kids.”
